Nearby in the surrounding villages and towns of Huddersfield, Marsden & Holmfirth, home to TV’s much-loved Last of the Summer Wine, you’ll also be spoiled for choice.

Slaithwaite itself boasts a ton of places well worth a visit, from the Handmade Bakery to the Green Valley Grocer (ideal to stock up on essentials ahead of a family meal in the cottage). There are also plenty of places to pick up great value food and drink, including Aldi and the Co-op, as well as a village post office, swimming pool and leisure centre, and a train station in the village centre offering convenient links to the surrounding area.

Made Good
For something a little different, Made Good situated on Slaithwaite’s Britannia Road, offers a collection of post-war furniture and collectables. From big name designers and makers across Denmark & the UK to smaller upcoming designers to keep an eye on, you’ll always find something unique at Made Good.

The Emporium/The Gallery
Lovers of all things vintage will definitely want to pop into Slaithwaite’s The Emporium. With rails of vintage clothing and tables and shelves brimming with quirky retro finds, the shop – located in the centre of the village – is a real treasure trove for fans of memorabilia from yesteryear. You’ll find The Gallery in the very same building, with striking art work on each and every wall.

Cobweb Antiques
With a great collection of antique furniture, home furnishings and accessories, Cobweb Antiques in the centre of bustling Slaithwaite offers gift ideas or treats including books, jewellery and scarves.

Vanilla Bean
For delicious homemade Italian-style ice cream made on the premises, try the artisan Vanilla Bean ice cream parlour and bistro. With coffee, homemade cakes and a tasty hot and cold menu, this popular destination is a favourite with locals and tourists alike.

Standedge Tunnel Visitors’ Centre
Britain’s longest canal tunnel, built in 1811, the Standedge Tunnel Visitors’ Centre has been restored for boat trips, and features a café and exhibition, too.

In Huddersfield’s Linthwaite, you’ll find the luxurious Titanic Spa, and the beautiful town of Holmfirth is just five miles away from the town centre. Huddersfield itself is home to Kingsgate Shopping Centre and a host of restaurants, bars and cafes.
